CAMP VICENTE LIM, CALAMBA CITY: The suspects in the killing of Barangay Captain Cesar Catibog were arrested by the Lipa City police in Barangay 8, Lipa City.

The police identified the arrested suspects as Wilson Asi, also known as Bunso, and Adrian Cristobal.

According to the police, Asi is an alleged member of the Bautista gun-for-hire criminal group which operates in the province of Batangas.

A case for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the "Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act" was already filed against the two suspects before the Lipa City Prosecutor's Office.

Catibog, 68, of Barangay Pagolingin East was slain by a riding-in-tandem on June 9 in Lipa City.

"We are dead serious in implementing the intensified cleanliness policy in our communities against criminals who threaten the peace and order condition in our region," said BGen. Eliseo Cruz, regional director for Calabarzon.

"We will relentlessly run after members of criminal gangs or groups in the region and dismantle their illegal activities, especially that the 2022 local and national elections is fast approaching to preempt them from staging violent acts during this time."
