DAVAO CITY: Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is optimistic about achieving a huge turnout for the three-day Bayanihan Bakunahan which started on Monday.

"Now that we are a few numbers away from achieving herd immunity, we are hopeful that this may contribute to a smoother sailing transition to a new normal," Duterte-Carpio said.

Based on a November 26 report, 1,065,383 individuals have received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. That's 81.95 percent of the city's target number to attain population protection.

According to the same report, 944,909 individuals are fully vaccinated in Davao City or 72.68 percent of the target number.

The mayor said the city government will assess the turnout of the three-day vaccination drive and see if the target number for herd immunity can be achieved before the year ends.

The city, in partnership with the Department of Health (DoH), aims to inoculate 49,000 Dabawenyos per day for the Bayanihan Bakunahan campaign.

Those who are interested in being vaccinated should bring a valid ID, Safedavao QR and pen for the first dose, and their vaccination card, valid ID, SafeDavao QR and pen for the second dose.

Additional requirements are required for those eligible for pediatric vaccination (12 to 17 years old): birth certificate or baptismal certificate, valid ID, valid ID of parent/guardian, and a barangay certificate or a special power of attorney of guardianship for those accompanied by a guardian. A medical clearance from the pediatrician is also required for those with comorbidities.

Meanwhile, the Public Safety and Security Command has deployed more personnel at the vaccination sites to ensure the orderly conduct of the inoculation and compliance with the minimum public health protocols such as social distancing and the wearing of face masks.

The regional police, meanwhile, provided vehicles to ensure the safe transport of vaccines to the vaccination sites.

Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 Director BGen. Filmore Escobal also directed his personnel to ensure that the minimum health standard protocol for Covid-19 is observed at all times.

"PRO 11 will be maximizing its effort and personnel to assist the DoH to ensure a safe, peaceful and smooth three-day vaccination drive," Escobal said.
