WHILE most government leaders, private companies and politicians began making efforts to send help to Typhoon "Odette" victims in Northern Mindanao, Central Visayas and Southern Luzon on Friday, residents in Puerto Princesa City and the rest of Palawan were bracing for the onslaught of the tropical storm.

Odette, the strongest typhoon to hit the country this year, first hit land on Siargao Island on Thursday and made landfall for the ninth time in Roxas, Palawan on Friday afternoon. Although the typhoon slightly weakened when it reached the province of Palawan, it was still able to knock off trees, houses, power and communication lines.
