Vehicle dealers, which sprouted left and right at a quick rate prior to the pandemic, also see better 2021 sales but at a lower rate of 17 percent because of damage caused by Typhoon "Odette" in the Visayas and Mindanao.

"We were initially expecting to finish the year very strong at around 290,000 units but after Typhoon Odette, we now expect to end the year about 17-percent better than 2020," Philippine Automotive Dealers Association President Doroteo "Tey" Sornet told Fast Times. "Odette has greatly affected our dealer friends in the Visayas and Mindanao region. We hope for their fast recovery," he added.
