THE Department of Health (DoH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) urged devotees of the Black Nazarene to refrain from holding "unsafe activities" related to what is considered one of the biggest annual feasts in the Catholic Church.

Both instead encouraged the faithful to hold the Traslacion and other events related to the Feast of the Black Nazarene online and in their homes to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and its highly transmissible Omicron variant.
