Pharmacies and private clinics will soon be tapped as inoculation sites to speed up the vaccination program, National Task Force Against Covid-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said Monday.

He said that pharmacies and private clinics in pilot sites in the National Capital Region will help give jabs to those belonging to the A1 to A4 categories beginning January 20.

"This is our way forward in our vaccination efforts and in preparation for the commercialization of the vaccine," Galvez said in his report to President Rodrigo Duterte during the latter's pre-recorded "Talk to The People" public briefing on Monday night.

The government plans to start giving jabs to minors aged 5 to 11 in February.

Galvez expressed confidence the government will meet its target vaccinating 90 million Filipinos against Covid-19 by the second quarter this year.
