FOURTEEN members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army's Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) surrendered to government forces last week, a statement from the Philippine military said on Monday.
According to the military, the entire leadership of the SMRC and its sub-regional guerrilla unit (SRGU) surrendered to the 1003rd Infantry Brigade under Col. Consolito Yecla on January 10, 13 and 16, in Sitio Minalong, Barangay Kahusayan, Kitaotao, Bukidnon and Sitio Sambulungan, Barangay Palma Gil, Talaingod, Davao del Norte.
