VICE presidential aspirant and Davao City mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has expressed confidence that former Defense chief Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro will win a Senate seat in the 2022 elections.

In her online show "Sara for All of You" aired on Monday, Duterte-Carpio vouched for Teodoro, describing the senatorial aspirant as "The One That Got Away" in the 2010 elections.

Teodoro ran and lost against late president Benigno Aquino 3rd in the 2010 presidential race.

"Siya po ang ating TOTGA noong 2010 (He's our TOTGA in 2010), or The One That Got away in 2010," Duterte-Carpio said as she introduced Teodoro, who is running under the banner of the People's Reform Party, the party founded by the late senator Miriam Defensor Santiago.

"This time around he will not be 'The One That Got Away' dahil sa tulong nating lahat, magiging senator sya (because with all our help, he will be a senator)," she added.

Thanking Duterte-Carpio, Teodoro said he was hoping that in this year's elections, he will be "the one that was captured na sana or the one that can help."

Teodoro previously flew to Davao City and expressed his intent to run as the vice presidential running mate of Duterte-Carpio, if ever she decides to succeed her father but later decided to seek a senatorial post for his political comeback.

Teodoro led the Department of National Defense (DND) during then president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's administration from 2007 to 2009.

He was also a member of the House of Representatives as Tarlac 1st District congressman from 1998 to 2007.
