PRO-democracy coalition, 1Sambayan, supporting the presidential bid of Vice President Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo and vice presidential running mate Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, is set to proclaim its senatorial line up next week, January 28.

The initial slate is composed of incumbent senators Leila de Lima and Ana Theresia "Risa" Hontiveros, former senator Antonio Trillanes 4th, former Ifugao Governor Teodoro "Teddy" Baguilat, and lawyers Alexander "Alex" Lacson, Jose Sonny Matula, and Jose Manuel "Chel" Diokno.

"We are still open for others, but for the [January 28 event] we will declare those seven in our senatorial line up together with Leni and Kiko," 1Sambayan Convenor, lawyer Howie Calleja, said in a press conference on Wednesday.

1Sambayan Volunteers Director Troy Tarriela also aims to ramp up their campaign for Robredo's candidacy by conducting alternative efforts amidst the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

He proposed activities such as holding online events to raise awareness and discourse on her platforms, engaging with those at the grassroots level to send her message to more Filipinos, and doing phone calls as an alternative to the door-to-door campaigning.

"This organic gathering is one of many signs of hope that we demonstrate for the opposition. The volunteers, especially the youth, are the true spirit of this fight for democracy," Tarriela added.

Celebrities and musicians have also expressed their support for Robredo through composing songs for her campaign. Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid said that he believes in Robredo's leadership and her campaign for "radikal na pagmamahal (radical love)" to spread love despite differences in political beliefs.

Meanwhile, other musicians Agat Morallos and Nica del Rosario also hope that their support for Robredo and Pangilinan will serve as an influence to others in the showbiz industry to come out and campaign for the tandem.

"The power of influence has a big role to play in the upcoming elections, especially for those with a platform that has a big number of followers because I think there are still those who are undecided, unsure, and uneducated in terms of what the candidates have done and can do and their platforms," del Rosario said.

Despite the challenges that the opposition faces in the upcoming polls, 1Sambayan calls for Filipinos everywhere to rally behind the pink tandem's commitment to public service — appealing that the proclamation event to be held on January 28 is a declaration of unity and hope for the country's future in 2022.
