THE Philippines' balance of payments (BoP) deficit will likely widen this year as imports continue to grow, Australia-based ANZ Research said.

"Overall, the BoP deficit is expected at 1.6 percent of GDP (gross domestic product) in 2022 versus 0.9 percent of GDP in 2021," its economists said in a study released on Thursday.
