THERE will be no festivities and celebrations in the streets of the City of Manila, particularly in Chinatown or in the Binondo district, during Chinese New Year because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

In an executive order, Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said the traditional holding of parades, dragon and lion dances, and the lighting of firecrackers and fireworks in the streets will not be permitted during the event on Tuesday, February 1.
