NATURAL disasters bring out the best and the worst in us. I don't know to whom to attribute this saying, but in many instances in the past, this was proven true by human experience. In this current Covid pandemic, especially during the lockdown, for instance, we have verified reports of people selling their vaccine slots or selling fake medicines online. We have reports of hospitals refusing to admit patients, but on the upside, this is counterbalanced by doctors, nurses and medical technicians, even hospital janitors and utility workers, courageously facing danger just to serve the public.

We saw great devastation, especially in Dinagat islands, and parts of the Visayas, Mindanao, Palawan and Mindoro islands when Typhoon "Odette" came raging a few days before last Christmas. The winds and rains that the typhoon unleashed pounded the area.
