BACOLOD CITY: A woman who villagers suspected to be an "aswang," a shape-shifting mythological creature in Filipino folklore, was hogtied and beaten up by some residents of Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental on Thursday.

Investigators from the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station identified the suspected "aswang" as a 58-year-old resident of Barangay Aranda, some 10 kilometers away from Barangay Gargato.
