WEARING of face mask is mandatory for all persons participating in election campaigns regardless of the venue and even in low level alert areas, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez clarified on Tuesday that under the rules set by the Commission en banc, violation of minimum health standards, including the use of protective shields, like face masks and face shields, is considered an election offense under the Omnibus Election Code (OEC).
