SYDNEY: Australia's largest coal-fired power plant, and also among the world's biggest, will shut in 2025 — several years sooner than planned — operators announced Thursday, saying the facility is no longer viable given the low cost of renewables.

Observers see the move as the country's call for a more nature-friendly gesture in serving the power needs of its citizens.
