Group opposes nuclear energy use in country

ENVIRONMENTAL group Greenpeace has called on the government to revoke Executive Order (EO) 164 that adopts a national position for a nuclear energy program, saying it is misguided and the exact opposite of making a transformative energy policy grounded on clean, safe and accessible renewable energy.

President Rodrigo Duterte last February 28 signed EO 164, which includes nuclear power in the country's energy mix, as this will address high electricity rates and secure the country's energy for the future.
