I AM actually amused at how the word "revisionist" whose root verb is "to revise" has become so demonized by academics, when the very act itself is at the core of our vocations. We constantly revise book and journal article manuscripts. We peer-review the work of other colleagues where we almost always end up recommending some revisions, even if so contrived, lest we are accused of abandoning our scholarly duties. We vet their work, and that of our graduate research advisees, and render our judgment by categorizing these as requiring minor or major revisions.
