AS part of the National Women's Month celebration this March and in collaboration with DZAG Radyo Pilipinas Agoo, the Department of Science and Technology-Region 1 (DoST-1) staged its Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL) services on March 10, 2022 via Zoom and the DoST-1 Facebook page.
The broadcast was attended by Armando Ganal, regional director for DoST-1; Lena Rosario, laboratory head and technical manager for Chemical Laboratory; Annalie Rosales, technical manager for Shelf-Life and Sensory Evaluation; Hero Galamgam, technical manager for Microbiology Laboratory; and Raymond Espe, technical staff for Regional Metrology Laboratory.
On the other hand, Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Racquel Espiritu listed DoST-I's presented the accomplishments for the previous week, with recognition of the Provincial Science and Technology Centers from Ilocos Norte to Pangasinan, as well as the Regional Office's different units for their continuing service and completed initiatives.
Rosario gave an overview of the RSTL, including its various services, the different laboratories, and the accreditations it has received thus far.
The technical managers and staff, on the other hand, detailed the services provided by their respective laboratories, including the significance of the tests specific to organizations, institutions, and establishments. The prices for each test were also discussed that were very competitive, along with processing time for each service.
Furthermore, the panelists discussed the challenges that the pandemic brought to their operations and how they were able to respond and overcome the difficulties. A reflection of adaptation, resilience, flexibility, public service, and contingency towards providing quality and continued service to the people also surfaced in the discussion.
Towards the end, the whole RSTL team adhered to its purpose of providing timely results to the clients without compromising the credibility and accuracy of the tests and the findings.
