The eight-member Philippines BEST-Swim League Philippines team is all set to compete in the prestigious 10th Circle of Swimmers of Melun Val de Seine scheduled on May 13 to 15 in Paris, France.

Heading the squad is no less than Philippine national junior record holder Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh — a veteran of international competitions.

Joining Mojdeh are equally talented Julia Ysabelle Basa, Marcus Johannes De Kam, Jordan Ken Lobos, Nicholas Ivan Radovan, Hugh Antonio Parto, Yohan Mikhail Cabana and Lance Arcel Lotino.

This will be the first time the Philippines BEST-SLP will be seeing action in a high-level European tournament.

The three-day meet has attracted more than 800 tankers from different reguons including from host France and powerhouse teams from Europe such as Switzerland, Germany, Great Britain and the Netherlands.

World-class swimmer Jeremy Desplanches of Switzerland has already confirmed participation in the tournament.

The 27-year-old Swiss won a bronze medal in the men's 200 individual medley in the 2020 Olympic Games held in Tokyo, Japan last year. He also bagged a silver in the same event in the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.

"The country's top junior and elite swimmers under the banner of Philippine BEST (Behrouz Elite Swimming Team) and Swim League Philippines (SLP) take their strokes to new heights as they plunge to action against the best of Europe and the world in the prestigious 10th Circle of Swimmers of Melun Val de Seine," said Philippines BEST-SLP chairman Joan Mojdeh.

Joining Mojdeh in the delegation are team manager Harold Mojdeh and strength and conditioning coach Jerricson Llanos.

The Philippines BEST-SLP expressed its gratitude to its sponsors for backing the campaign of the team including its major supporter Behrouz Persian Cuisine.

"We would also like to thank Hans Wong, Hannah Wong, Marie Lim, Jun Papa, Senator Ralph Recto, Vince Garcia and FINIS Philippines as well as Judith Communaudat (Secretary English Translator), Hervee Piquee (Head Coach and Technical Director) and Fadela El Barodi," added Mojdeh.
