Comelec asked to probe 'flawed' party-list system

TWO lawmakers from the Makabayan bloc on Saturday voiced their frustration with the current party-list system at the House of Representatives which, they claimed, was now dominated by political families, businesses, the military, and the current administration.

Speaking at the Annabel's Media Forum organized by Infrawatch PH, a policy think tank focusing on major public infrastructure and development projects in the country, Gabriela Party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas and ACT Teachers Rep. Francisca "France" Castro asked the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to examine whether the party-list groups' candidates and nominees accurately reflect the underprivileged sectors.
