VIETNAM: Vanessa Sarno. Remember this name. She just won the weightlifting GOLD in the Vietnam Seagames 71 klgs category breaking all three records in snatch, clean n jerk and total to help the beleaguered Philippine team from falling to 5th place overall. Vanessa, only eighteen yrs old from Bohol and also the current World Juniors Champion, Asian Juniors champion as well as Asian Championship gold medalist will join our Olympic champ Hidilyn Diaz and hopefully with Cebu's Elreen Ando and Zamboanga's Kristel Macrohon to the Paris Olympic Games 2024. All my colleagues in the Asian Weightlifting Federation were all in awe of what's she's capable of achieving, even in the Olympics. For one, she's only 5 kilos shy of the Olympic record. Our special thanks to the PSC, headed by Butch Ramirez, Chairman MVP, Al Panlilio. Ricky Vargas, Art Aro, and our national coaches Tony Agustin, Julius Naranjo, Nicolas Jaluag, Gary Hortelano, Patrick Lee, SWP Chairman Mark Alino and the Board for attaining two golds, one silver, one bronze here in Hanoi. And to the PSC and POC staff with CDM PSC Comm Ramòn Fernandez for making us comfortable in our quest. More medals for Cambodia next year.
