THE Philippines, specifically Gilas Pilipinas was supposed to be the Team USA of Southeast Asia, in the sense that they are virtually unbeatable. In fact, the Pinoys have exceeded that comparison as they have been dominant since 1989 — a feat that the United States has failed to emulate, losing the Olympic Gold and FIBA World Cup, the latter, multiple times.
