ASIDE from vacationers as May 30 is the official beginning of summer here, it is relatives of graduating students who are traveling. Of course there are the usual business travelers. But the new passengers are cats and dogs. They too are flying the skies as though they have been doing it for a long time.

On my flight to Boston via Phoenix, my seatmate who was on crutches had a companion, a big black Labrador, who had his own blanket and quietly lay down at her feet snoozing the whole flight. He must have been a veteran because not a peep of surprise or restlessness, or even involuntary movement was seen or heard throughout the flight.
