THE month of May is recognized as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
As the month came to a close, a celebration on Saturday, May 28, honored the significant contributions of Filipino sailors who served in the US Navy. Virginia leaders commemorated their legacy with a historical highway marker in Hampton Roads, Virginia Beach.
