The post pandemic world has shown us many things we have missed doing in the last two years — revenge travel, catch up with family and friends and for others, a slow physical return to the office. However, there have been also unexpected turn of events that rocked this new normal that is now creeping and possibly affecting our daily lives, one way or another.

The start of the Russia-Ukraine war last February triggered two major things — global logistics challenges on raw materials and oil price hikes. The former paved the way for some raw materials to be in shortage, such as flour and potatoes, which explains why some retailers are now increasing their cost of bread products and why one fast food chain is also limiting their provision of the beloved French fries. In addition, oil price hikes just make it easier to prioritize activities that are really worth going out for. As much as possible, we stay put.
