THE Manila Zoo, known officially as the Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden, is one of the frequently visited places in the City of Manila. First opened in 1959, the zoo is the go-to place for field trips or excursions for children as they get to see wildlife from the Philippines and various parts of the world. This 5.5-hectare facility is located along Adriatico Street in Malate, Manila.

Visitors have an unobstructed view of the animals through glass enclosures rather than cages. The enclosures are larger than before to give animals more freedom of movement. Consultants from Singapore were brought in during the redesigning of Manila Zoo.
