The 5th Industrial Revolution Part 2

THE Covid-19 pandemic has been accelerating "digital transformation focused on the challenges during our times," in particular, on the "importance of people, environment and societal changes." Expect then that we humans will be at the center stage of the automation craft. Industry 4.0, having transformed what smart machines can do, is bowing out. That Industry 4.0 "didn't talk about people, society and environment" is because people felt that "technology, data, ecosystems, machines and all those intelligent environments enabled by operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) are perhaps more for a specific audience" such as in business, than for the whole of humanity and the environment. Thus, with what has been described as "coldness," the fact that automated technologies are on their own, some major change is indeed needed — for machine and man to work together. On this agenda, Industry 5.0 closely awaits!
