THE Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) broke past the 6,400 mark on Wednesday, increasing by 135.02 points, or 2.14 percent to settle at 6,445.01.

Japhet Tantiangco, senior research analyst at Philstocks Financial Inc., said the sharp drop in international oil prices was a major factor for the market rebound because it is seen to bring down the country's inflation rate should the trend continue.
