BACOLOD CITY: Three suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) were killed on Tuesday in an encounter with the Philippine Army in Central Negros.

Brig. Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, said that almost 10 minutes of gun battle ensued between 10 NPA rebels and soldiers from the 62nd Infantry Battalion (62IB) who responded to reports of civilians on the presence of armed men in Sitio Natuling, Barangay Budlasan, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.
