THE Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that the major magnitude 7.0 earthquake in Abra province continued to record aftershocks which, as of Friday morning, have been more than 1,000.
Phivolcs said that as of 10 a.m., 1071 aftershocks have been recorded with magnitude ranging from 1.5 to 5.0. The highest, which took place at 4:02 a.m. on Thursday also in the town of Tayum, had a depth of 17 kilometers.
