VICE President and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio led the ceremonial kickoff of the 2022 National "Brigada Eskwela" on Monday, August 1, at the Imus Pilot Elementary School in Poblacion, Imus City.

Duterte-Carpio was joined by Imus City Mayor Alex "AA" Advincula and Vice Gov. Athena Tolentino who represented Gov. Juanito Victor "Jonvic" Remulla Jr.

"Uneasiness and anxiety continue amid the threat of Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to other challenges such as flood, earthquake and monkeypox. The important thing is that we have the determination to foresee our mission and we are all set for the Aug. 22, 2022 opening of classes," the DepEd secretary said in her speech.

Brigada Eskwela was also simultaneously launched on Monday at the Kanlurang Mayao Elementary School in Lucena City in Quezon province.

Brigada Eskwela is a nationwide public school activity where students, parents, teachers, and civic groups work together and prepare the schools for the opening of classes each year.
