(UPDATE) THE Philippines scored three gold medals in the Asean Para Games in Indonesia on Monday.Swimmers Ernie Gawilan and Roland Sabido, as well as javelin thrower Cendy Asusano delivered the first three golds for the Philippines in the competition.Gawilan ruled the men's 400m freestyle S7 TF event, while Sabido topped the men's 400m freestyle S9 class.Asusano, meanwhile, got her gold in the women's javelin throw F54 event.'I'm grateful that I finally have a contribution for Team Philippines,' Gawilan wrote in Filipino in a Facebook post.'Thanks to the Philippine Sports Commission and to our NSA (national sports association) NPC Philipspada (Philippine Sports Association for the Differently Disabled) and to all who believe in us.'Other than Gawilan, Sabido and Asusano, nine other Filipino para athletes managed to win medals in the tournament.Daniel Enderes Jr. claimed a bronze medal in the para athletics-men's 5000m T20, while Edwin Villanueva also notched a bronze in the para swimming-400m freestyle.The trio of Smith Billy Cartera, Racleo Martinez and Darwin Salvacion likewise seized a bronze in the men's table tennis TT4 event, as Arnel Aba plucked a silver in the men's 400m freestyle S9 event.Jesebel Tordecilla clinched a bronze medal in the women's discus throw F55m while the duo of Jobert Lumanta and Jayson Ocampo likewise bagged a bronze in the men's table tennis Class 8.Arman Dino also notched a bronze medal in athletics-men's 100m T47 event.At press time, more Filipino para athletes, specifically in the athletics events, are still competing.Andrei Kuzon (F54), Joel Balatucan (F55), Maekel Lita (F55), were trying to medal in the men's javelin throw.Jolan Camacho (T12) and Jerome Fernandez (T46) were competing in the men's long jump and men's 100m.Jerold Pete Mangliwan and Rodrigo Podiotan Jr. were competing at the men's 100m T52 finals, as Prudencia Panaligan was battling in the women's 100m T54 finals.The 2022 Asean Para Games is set to end on August 6.
