THE state-run weather agency said on Wednesday that it is closely monitoring a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) but which is unlikely to directly affect the country in the coming days.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 6 p.m. advisory that the weather disturbance was last seen some 455 kilometers west of Itbayat, Batanes.
