THE national government provided fewer subsidies to state-run firms in the first six months of this year than last year despite allocating more budget for June 2022, the Bureau of Treasury (BTr) said over the weekend.

According to the latest data from the BTr, government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs) received subsidies totaling P44.6 billion from January to June this year. The agency noted a 49.4-percent decrease from P88.2 billion during the same months in 2021.
