THE Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) surged by 208.84 points, or 3.23 percent, on Thursday to close at 6,680.68, as US inflation settled at 8.5 percent in July.
Philstocks Financial Inc. research associate Claire Alviar, Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. chief economist Michael Ricafort and Regina Capital Development Corp. Managing Director Luis Limlingan said investors cheered as the US consumer price index in July settled at 8.5 percent.
