A magnitude 5.8 earthquake hit Maguindanao on Saturday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Tectonic in origin, the tremor occurred around 2:25 p.m. some 11 kilometers north-west of South Upi, also in the province, Phivolcs said.
