THE Philippines has the unenviable distinction of being the "fourth largest contributor to the number of tuberculosis cases worldwide," after India, China and Indonesia, "with 500 people affected per 100,000" ("Barriers to tuberculosis care in the Philippines" by Robyn Gayle K.
