"INDAY" has escalated into a severe tropical storm as it further intensified while moving north-westward over the Philippine Sea, the state-run weather agency said on Friday.

Estimated some 720 kilometers (kms) east of Aparri, Cagayan or 730 kms east of Calayan, also in the same province, the severe tropical storm had maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 125 kph while moving north-westward at 20 kph, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in a 5 p.m. bulletin.
