CENTRAL Visayas has 8,407 newly diagnosed human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cases as of May 2022, making the region with the fourth most new cases among the 17 regions in the Philippines.

The cases in Central Visayas constitute eight percent of the 100,298 total cases as of May 2022, said Dr. Ilya Abellanosa-Tac-an, head of Social Hygiene Clinic of the Cebu City Health Office in a virtual conference of the Cebu Velez General Hospital Department of Internal Medicine on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022.
