THE celebration of World Teachers' Day a few days ago prompted praises for the silent heroism of teachers worldwide. The country's tribute came from the very top. Mr. Marcos Jr. said teachers are the "bedrock of a prosperous economy," which was technically correct but essentially the jargon of prosperity preachers. Probably, a more fitting paean to the teachers on that universal day of celebrating them was the retelling of a conversation between St. Thomas More and Richard Rich in a scene from the play "A Man For All Seasons."
