(UPDATED) THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported on Sunday that the number of impassable roads has risen to 60 after Tropical Storm "Paeng" battered the country over the weekend.

Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan said that the figure was based on the reports submitted to his office by regional and provincial offices from Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.

Bonoan said that DPWH personnel in badly affected areas were working round the clock to repair the damaged roads.

"We in DPWH will do our best to restore safer travel for motorists and to facilitate faster response," he said.

Of the 60 road sections, seven are in the Cordillera Administrative Region, three in the National Capital Region (Metro Manila), six in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley), one in Region 3 (Central Luzon), nine in Region 4A (Calabarzon), two in Region 4B (Mimaropa), three in Region 5 (Bicol), 18 in Region 6 (Western Visayas), four in Region 8 (Eastern Visayas), one in Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), three in Region 12 (Soccsksargen), and three in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The DPWH Bureau of Maintenance identified the affected roads as: Baguio-Bontoc Road, K0387+600, Napu Section, Bontoc, Mt. Province due to slope collapse; Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road a. K0642+790 – K0642+980 (aggravated), Salagunting Section, Eva, Calanasan, Apayao b. K0672+1180 – K0172+1280, Rabaw Section, Naguilian, Calanasan, Apayao due to road cut, soil collapse and road slip; Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road K0349+100 – K0349+150, Gakian Section, Gambang, Bakun, Benguet due to soil collapse; Kiangan-Tinoc-Buguias Road K0354+400, Ap-apid, Tinoc, Ifugao due to mudflow; Lubuagan-Batong Buhay-Abra Bdry Road, K0464+000, Puapo Dangtalan, Pasil, Kalinga due to soil collapse; Mt. Province Bdry.-Calanan-Pinukpuk-Abbut Road, K0468+500, Cagaluan, Pasil, Kalinga due to soil collapse; and Balbalan-Pinukpuk Road, K0484+040, Maling Section, Balbalan, Kalinga due to soil collapse.

Not Passable due to flooding in Metro Manila are the Sucat Road (South Bound), SM Sucat to Evacom; Sucat Road (North Bound), Corner Kaytalise Street; and Zapote River Drive, Zapote Tunnel.

Road sections not passable in Region 2 are the Manila North Road, K0611+680 Claveria Bridge detour; Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge; Gamu-Roxas Road a. Bayabo Bridge, K0402+200 b. Carappigan Bridge K0404+400; Bambang-Kasibu Road K266+200 Nueva Vizcaya; La Conwap Detour Road, La Conwap River along Jct Abbag-Nagtipunan-Nueva Vizcaya Road (via Dupax), K0442+820, Quirino; and San Pedro Overflow Bridge along Jct NRJ Villa Sur San Pedro-Cabuaan-Ysmael-Disimungal Road, K0367+786, San Pedro, Madela, Quirino.

Also not passable due to high water elevation is the Nueva Ecija-Aurora Road a. K0211+786, Diteki River Detour Road in Aurora Province.

Road sections closed to traffic in Region 4A are the Tagaytay-Taal Lake Road, Brgy. San Jose (K0057+200 – K0058+100), Tagaytay City; Tagaytay-Talisay Road, Brgy. Sungay West, Tagaytay City; and Ternate-Nasugbu Road, Brgy. Sapang I, Ternate, Cavite due to fallen debris/landslide.

Also not passable due to landslide is the Lipa-Alaminos Road, Brgy. Sta. Rosa, Alaminos, Laguna, KM0080+000.

In Quezon Province, road sections closed to traffic are the Marikina Infanta Road, Brgy. Magsaysay, Infanta, Quezon K0102 + 380 due to reported intermittent landslides; Tayabas-Mainit-Mauban Road between K0150+000 – K0151+000 due to fallen trees; San Juan-Candelaria Jct. Candelaria-Bolboc Road due to collapsed bridge (Bantilan Bridge); Lutucan-Guisguis Port Road between KM124+650 – KM124+700; and Quezon Eco-Tourism Road at the intersection between KM153+850 – KM153+900 due to severe flooding.

In Bicol, affected roads are Albay West Coast Road, (K0491+000), Libon-Paclas Section; Daang Maharlika (K0363+100) Brgy. Tuaca Basud, Camarines Norte; and Jct. Panganiban-Sabloyon Road, Catanduanes a. K0074+500 – K0074+520, Brgy. Sabloyon, Mun. of Caramoan, b. K0076+300 – K0076+325, Brgy. Sabloyon, Mun. of Caramoan, and c. K0076+500 – K0076+520, Brgy. Sabloyon, Mun. of Caramoan.

In Western Visayas, affected road sections are Iloilo-Antique Road, Antique Province a. K0076+361 – K0076+716 Brgy. Caromangay, Hamtic, Antique, b. Paliwan Bridge K0143+003, Brgy. Cubay North, Bugasong, Antique, c. K0127+100 Brgy. Carit-an, Patnongon, Antique, d. Ypayo Bridge K0121+393, Poblacion, Patnongon, Antique; Sibalom-Pis-anan Road K0111+300, Brgy. Nagdayao, Sibalom, Antique; San Remigio-Bugo Road, K0123+650, Sitio Agusipan, Brgy. Trinidad, San Remigio, Antique; and Odiong-Sibalom-San Remigio-Leon RoadK0127+000, K0131+030, K0132+840 and K0133+420.

Road sections affected by flooding in Capiz Iloilo-East Coast-Capiz Road K0116+279 – K0142+994; Jct. National Road-Mianay-Duyoc-Calaan Panitan Road S00310PN, K0103+128 – K0110+757; Roxas City Bdry. Panitan-Bailan Road S00312PN K0112+267 – K0122+739; Lanot-Loctugan-Panitan Bdry. Road-Roxas City Road K0108+162 – K0111+471; Sigma-Mambusao-Jamindan Road a. K0091+700 –K0092+200 Brgy. Tugas, Mambusao, Capiz, b. K0099+200 – K0101+300 Brgy. Tumalalod-Brgy. Caidquid, Mambusao, Capiz; 2. Iloilo-Capiz Road (Old route) a. K0092+200 – K0093+760 Brgy. Santo Angel to Brgy. Sto.
