THE Department of Agriculture (DA) declared Bataan as bird flu-free after the avian influenza detected at a backyard mallard duck farm has been eradicated and contained.

Agriculture Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban in issuing Memorandum Circular 39 said the DA was able to contain the spread of the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) subtype H5N1 after the first case was recorded on March 22, 2022.
