A CONSUMER group has announced that it had filed sometime last month a petition for certiorari before the Supreme Court questioning the constitutionality of Republic Act 11659, which amended the almost century-old Public Service Act.

Commonwealth Act 146, the original Public Service Act, was approved, and immediately took effect, on Nov. 7, 1936. This Act was subsequently amended by Commonwealth Act 454; Republic Acts 178, 723, 2031, 2677, 3792; Presidential Decree 1; and Executive Order 546.
