THE Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) will not be abolished if the country establishes a Center for Disease Control (CDC), Albay Second District Rep. Jose Ma. Clemente "Joey" Salceda said.

In a statement on Sunday, Salceda was quoted as saying, "Let me categorically state, on record, that the RITM will stay. It will continue to perform most of its functions, and there will be no layoffs."
