IS 'brand' survives leader's death

PARIS: The death of the Islamic State group's second leader in under a year shows the once powerful jihadists have lost their ability to operate a global network from Syria, analysts say.

But the group, which had ruled over swathes of Syria and Iraq before being defeated there, still has active branches in other parts of the world, including West Africa and Afghanistan.
