THE peso continued to appreciate on Wednesday but stocks fell steeply in a mixed day for Philippine financial markets.
The currency strengthened to P55.45 against the United States dollar, gaining 52-and-half centavos. The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi), however, plunged by 149.22 points, or 2.24 percent, to close at 6,525.16.
