A LOW pressure area (LPA) has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and may escalate into a tropical depression over the next 36 hours, the state-run weather agency said on Friday.

Weather specialist Benison Estareja of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), in an interview with The Manila Times, also said the weather disturbance was last spotted past 3 a.m. some 610 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
