LAST week, I began the discussion on why I believe that the roots of reformation are present in the birthing of our Republic through Dr. Jose Rizal's stay in Germany and connection with Protestant Pastor Karl Ulmer. It is possible that Rizal, through his experiences in Germany, found a way to understand that he could still have a direct relationship with God directly without the need of the religious governmental hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church which he and others at that time were critical of.
