CHENGDU/CHONGQING: Regarded as the fruit of another important regional development strategy, the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle in southwestern China is glittering under the spotlight of "coordinated regional development," which was highlighted in a report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in October.

On November 28, the construction of the middle line of the Chengdu-Chongqing high-speed railway broke ground. Once complete, the railway will slash travel time between the two cities to just 50 minutes.
