LAST Monday, the first of a series of articles by fellow Manila Times columnist Bobi Tiglao regarding the memorandum issued by a Palace official overturning the directive of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau ordering a Chinese-controlled company to stop its nickel mining operation in Zambales which is deemed illegal for lacking the required environmental clearance certificate, came out in this paper.

According to Tiglao's article, Palace deputy executive secretary for legal affairs Anna Liza Logan, known to be close to First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, issued a memorandum on December 23 blocking the DENR directive barring Yinglong Steel Corp. from pursuing its illegal nickel-mining operations in Zambales.
